Advent is a time of preparation prior to celebrating the anniversary of Our Lords coming into the world as pure Love on Christmas Day. Advent is the beginning of the Church's Liturgical Year.

The Advent season is joyfully followed by children worldwide with an Advent Calendar, a practice introduced by German Lutherans. For the Roman Catholic, Lutheran and Anglican calendars, Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before December 25, the Sunday between November 27 and December 3rd culminating on Christmas Eve marked by special seasonal devotions.

Christians believe that the season of Advent serves as a reminder of both the original waiting done by the Hebrew Faithful for the birth of the Messiah and the waiting of Christians for the Second Coming of Christ.
